Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria of study group: 1.age less than 30 years old; 2.Fixed correction: (1) Bracket: metal or ceramic; (2) Straight or square wire arch technique; (3) Arch wire: nickel/stainless steel; Ligating wire: (4) metal/elastic ligation/both former/self-locking. Inclusion criteria for the control group: 1.patients younger than 30 years old; 2.Subjects requiring crown lengthening due to passive eruption abnormalities; 3.No orthodontic treatment; 4.In good health.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: All subjects were excluded from the study. Women with systemic diseases and those who were pregnant or in lactation were excluded. No significant alveolar bone absorption was noticed by panoramic radiography. They did not receive systematic periodontal treatment or receive antibiotics within six months. Smokers of any type were excluded. They also did not receive any drugs that might be accompanied by gingival hyperplasia, such as calcium antagonists, antiepileptic drugs such as phenytoin sodium and immunosuppressive agent cyclosporine.
