Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Symptoms and signs consistent with ruptured Achilles tendon; Preoperative neutral MRI examination of the ankle revealed complete rupture of the Achilles tendon. The rupture was 4 to 8cm above the insertion of the Achilles tendon.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The interval from injury to operation is more than 10 days; No two-year follow-up; Previous rupture of Achilles tendon on the contralateral side; A history of Achilles tendon pain; A history of local surgery or trauma; Use of steroids or immunosuppressants.
