Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients with cirrhosis diagnosed by laboratory tests, CT, ultrasound, and liver biopsy (not mandatory) according to the guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of cirrhosis published in 2019 and clinical diagnosis. 2. All patients included in the study were of any gender and between 20 and 80 years of age. 3. All patients included in the study have signed an informed consent form.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Age 80 years. 2. Severe renal failure, heart or respiratory failure. 3. Severe poor glycemic control. 4. Comorbid cerebrovascular disease, epilepsy; history of severe head injury, or other conditions that may affect brain function 5. Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt. 6. Alcohol or drug abuse within the past 3 months, or current use of psychotropic and hypnotic medications. 7. History of past OHE episodes. 8. Patients with electrolyte imbalance (Na> 150 or 5.5 or < 3.5 mmol/L). 9. Patients who have used PPIs or lactulose within the past 1 month; 10. Patients who are unable or unwilling to cooperate in completing the study.
