Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. >=18 years of age; 2. Tibetan highlanders for generation or Tibetan settlers living at high altitudes(altitude>=2500 meters) for more than 20 years; 3. American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA)I-III; 4. Selected non-cardiothoracic and non-neurologic surgery undergoing general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation; 5. Duration of surgery>=1 hour; 6. Signed the informed consent form.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Lived continuously in plain area (<=500m) for more than 180 days before surgery; 2. Existing cerebral disease or a history of neurological and psychiatric disease, including stroke, Alzheimers disease, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and psychosis; 3. Existing cognitive dysfunction as evidenced by the MMSE scores<24; 4. Severe hearing or visual impairment; 5. Had undergone general anesthesia within the past 30 days; 6. MRI contraindications (claustrophobia, pacemaker or metal stent, etc.).
