Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. T2DM will be diagnosed using fasting blood glucose > 7.0 mmol/L on two separate occasions or 2-hour blood glucose level > 11.1 mmol/L during a 75-gram oral glucose tolerance tes; 2. Aged 30-65 years; 3. MCI will be evaluated via MMSE and MoCA-B (MMSE score > 24, and 21 <= MoCA-B score < 26 were diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Impaired glucose tolerance or impaired fasting glucose; 2. Serious eye diseases; 3. Any sign of positive neurological symptoms; 4. Any history of neurological abnormality; 5. Serious head injury (with loss of consciousness > 5 min); 6. Left or mixed handedness; 7. Body mass index (BMI) > 31 kg/m2; 8. Substance (alcohol, tobacco, psychoactive drug) abuse; 9. Hypertension (systolic blood pressure [SBP] = 150 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure = 100 mmHg); 10. Severe hypoglycemia or hyperlipemia; 11. Specific abnormalities found in conventional head MRI scans or other factors that might affect brain structure and function (chronic infections, organic failure, and other endocrine diseases); 12. Loss to follow-up; 13. Use of medications or treatments that can affect the results of the clinical trial without permission from the investigator; 14. Inappropriate progress as judged by the investigator.
