Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients planned to prevent and treat VTE by subcutaneous injection of anticoagulant drugs.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Emergency surgery; 2. Aged < 16 years; 3. Analgesic medication within 6h prior to injection; 4. Pre-existing skin pain at the site of needle insertion or of the involved limb; 5. Poor cooperation or verbal communication.
