Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. The criteria for the sepsis group were as follows: when patients had infection or suspected infection, their sepsis-related sequential organ-failure assessment (SOFA) score was >=2 from baseline. Or at least two of the bedside rapid SOFA (quick SOFA, qSOFA) criteria can be diagnosed as sepsis; 2. The control group consisted of patients who met SIRS but did not have sepsis. The criteria are: body temperature >=38 degree or =90 beats/min, respiratory rate >=20/min or hyperventilation PaCO2 =12,000/cu mm) or leukopenia (<=4000/ cu mm).
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients younger than 18 years old.
