Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. In patients with no prior evidence of chronic liver disease, liver failure occurs within 8 weeks of clinical liver disease. 2. Biochemical evidence of acute liver injury, typically elevated AST, ALT, and/or total bilirubin and bound bilirubin. 3. Thrombin time (PT)>=15 seconds, or international normalized ratio (INR)>=1.5 were not corrected by vitamin K. 4. Clinical evidence of encephalopathy -- patients with INR>1.5 but =20 seconds or INR>=2.0).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Children who abandoned treatment within 48 hours of admission.
