Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Case group: 1. Interviews were conducted using the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI) (adult or child version), which met the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for major depressive disorder; 2. Age 13-75 years old (including boundary value), gender is not limited, right-handed, primary school education or above; 3. Hamilton depression scale score = 17 points or children's depression scale (revised version) = 40 points;4. Hypomania symptom checklist (HCL-32) = 13 points to exclude bipolar disorder patients; 5. They did not use any psychotropic drugs or any antidepressant treatment 3 months before they were enrolled; 6. Patients and/or legal guardians voluntarily participated in the study, understood and signed written informed consent. Health control group: 1. No previous or current mental illness assessed by MINIKid; 2. Age 13-75 years old, right-handed, primary school education or above; 3. Patients and/or legal guardians voluntarily participated in the study, understood, and signed written informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Case group: ? Patients who were diagnosed as organic mental disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar affective disorder, mental retardation, dementia, other cognitive disorders, alcohol and drug dependence and personality disorder in DSM-5; ? Depression secondary to other mental diseases or somatic diseases; ? Patients with severe or unstable physical diseases; ? patients with epilepsy or other brain organic diseases; ? patients with a history of allergy to antidepressants;? Women who are lactating, pregnant or may be pregnant during the test period, and men who want to have children within one year; ? Those with contraindications to magnetic resonance imaging, such as newly implanted cardiac stents, metal dentures, etc. Health control group: 1. Patients with severe or unstable physical diseases; 2. Patients with previous or current brain organic diseases; 3. Family history of mental illness in two lines and three generations; 4. Women who are lactating, pregnant, or may be pregnant during the test period, and men who want to have children within one year; 5. Patients with contraindications to MRI, such as newly implanted cardiac stents, metal dentures, etc.
