Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged over 18 years. 2. Fulfill the diagnostic criteria for mild cognitive impairment (MCI) established by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and the Alzheimer's Association (ADA) in 2011, which primarily include the following four points: (1) Patient or informant reports, or clinical assessment by experienced clinicians, indicating cognitive impairment. (2) Objective evidence of impairment in one or more cognitive domains based on cognitive tests. (3) Mild impairment in complex instrumental activities of daily living, while maintaining independence in basic activities of daily living. (4) Not meeting the diagnostic criteria for dementia.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Other neurological disorders that lead to cognitive decline, such as vascular dementia, hydrocephalus, brain tumors, and other conditions including head trauma, infections, immune-related disorders, tumors, toxicity, and metabolic diseases causing dementia. 2. Evidence of recent infarction, hemorrhage, infection, or other focal injuries in important memory-related brain regions observed in baseline clinical MRI. 3. Presence of pacemakers, aneurysm clips, artificial heart valves, cochlear implants, metal fragments in the body; foreign objects in the eyes, skin, or body. 4. History of severe depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or other psychiatric disorders (according to DSM-V diagnostic criteria). 5. History of alcohol or substance abuse/addiction within the past two years (according to DSM-V diagnostic criteria). 6. Current acute episode of the common cold or allergic rhinitis. 7. Traumatic or congenital loss of olfactory function, severe hearing or visual impairments. 8. Participants currently experiencing acute or unstable mental or physical conditions that would significantly impede their participation in the study. 9. Considered unsuitable for the study by the researcher.
