Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged >=18 years; 2. AECOPD was diagnosed according to the Chinese expert Consensus on the diagnosis and treatment of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary Disease (AECOPD) (2017 update). The diagnosis was based on relevant medical history, physical examination, chest imaging and pulmonary function examination, etc.; 3. Mild to moderate acute hypercapnia, arterial blood gas 7.25 < pH < 7.35; 4. PaCO2 acuity 55 mm Hg.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Tracheotomy; 2. Intubation or immediate intubation; 3. BMI>=30kg/m^2; 4. The pregnancy; 5. Agitated and uncooperative patients, RASS sedation score >=2; 6. Difficult to cough up sputum; 7. Unable to wear mask due to facial trauma; 8. Patients with hemodynamic instability; 9. Patients with hemoptysis, pneumothorax and severe pneumonia; 10. Multiple organ failure; 11. Unable to obtain informed consent.
