Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. The diagnosis was Refractory epilepsy (RE) according to the 2010 ILAE diagnostic criteria: refers to those who have not reached seizure control after reasonable selection and correct use of two well-tolerated AEDs (single drug or combination) according to seizure type; 2. No previous KD treatment; 3. Children with KD received regular treatment for more than 3 months; 4. The antiepileptic drugs and other treatment regiments were not changed in the first 3 months of KD treatment; 5. Relatively complete clinical data; 6. The legal guardian of the child agreed to conduct KD therapy and related research.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Severe liver disease or abnormal liver function, or metabolic disease; 2. Suffering from serious diseases of digestive, cardiovascular, respiratory and immune systems; 3. Complicated with severe mental disorders; 4. Other organic brain lesions, such as encephalitis and brain trauma, and severe complications such as severe pneumonia occurred during diet treatment; 5. Indicated for surgical treatment.
