Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Meet the diagnostic criteria for dementia consistent with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-Fourth edition (DSM-IV); 2. Meet the diagnostic criteria for probable Alzheimers disease based on criteria by National Institute of Aging/Alzheimers Association (NIA-AA); 3. Ambulatory patients ,aged between 50 and 85 years, both male and female; 4. Score of clinical dementia rating (CDR) >= 0.5, score of mini mental state examination(MMSE) <= 26; 5. Hachinski ischemic scale(HIS) <= 4; 6. Hadn't been treated electroacupuncture two weeks before screening; 7. Signed informed consent; 8. A reliable caregiver, who can make sure of caring for patient more than 3 hours per day and more than 3 days per week is required.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. The presence of severe cerebrovascular disease; 2. The diagnosis of any other disease which can affect cognition; 3. Exposure to toxins or medicine which have probable cognitive problems; 4. Hospitalization at present or completely dependent on nursing care; 5. Being terrified of acupuncture; 6. The person who has serious underlying disease, such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, kidney dysfunction and so on; 7. The person who has a skin infection.
