Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. According to the International Alliance against Epilepsy (ILAE): failure to reduce the frequency of seizures to no more than four times per month is achieved with the use of at least two antiepileptic drugs for more than three months; 2. The patient had complex focal attacks and had not changed his/her medication regimen in the past 2 months.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with a history of extensive structural damage, stroke, and encephalitis; 2. Patients with other neurological and psychiatric disorders and who did not consistently take medication; 3. Patients who could not receive MRI scan or had MRI contraindications; 4. Women who had a recent pregnancy plan or in perinatal period; 5. Patients consumed illicit drugs and heavy alcohol.
