Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Sarcopenia group: 1. Aged 60 to 80 years, 60 inclusive; 2. Male or female; 3. Diagnosed as sarcopenia; 4. Understand and sign informed consent. Healthy control group: 1. Healthy subjects matched with sarcopenia group according to age and sex.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Sarcopenia group: Factors known or likely to influence the intestinal flora, or those that confound the diagnosis of sarcopenia: 1. Severe malnutrition (blood albumin drops to 22g/L, body weight drops to less than 60% of normal body weight); 2. Gastrointestinal diseases that affect intestinal flora: inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, gastrointestinal bleeding and major gastrointestinal surgery within 5 years; 3. Neurological disorders (e.g., stroke, Parkinson's disease, delirium, dementia, or other severe cognitive impairment); 4. Musculoskeletal conditions (arthritis of the knee or hip that requires medical treatment, or other conditions that may affect the joints or muscles); 5. Chronic cardiopulmonary insufficiency impeding normal daily activities (New York Heart Association Functional Classification III/IV or inability to tolerate the 5-sit test or 6-minute walk test); 6. Chronic kidney disease stage 4 or above; 7. Severe liver injury (aminotransferase level increased to more than 3 times normal); 8. Malignant tumor (unless there has been no recurrence in the past 5 years); 9. Connective tissue diseases; 10. Endocrine diseases that may affect muscles (diabetes, growth hormone treatment, sex hormone treatment or untreated thyroid disease); 11. Active hepatitis, AIDS, syphilis, acute and chronic infection, stress state (surgery, trauma, mental stimulation), etc.; 12. Used the following drugs within 3 months before examination: antibiotics, probiotics or prebiotics, laxatives, PPI, hormones, incretin drugs, immunosuppressants, sex hormones, resistance hormones, Chinese herbal medicines, etc.; 13. Smoking history (smoking more than 1 cigarette per day for 6 consecutive or cumulative months) and excessive drinking history (alcohol intake greater than or equal to 40g per day for men and 20g per day for women); 14. People who need to limit their protein intake. (< 0.8 g/kg/day); 15. BIA is contraindicated or affects the accuracy of results; 16. Severe physical disability, unable to complete the examination independently; 17. Significant changes in diet one week before sampling. Healthy control group: 1. Comorbidities, including diabetes, thyroid disease, gastrointestinal disease, hyperlipidemia (and/or long-term statin use), coronary heart disease, hypertension, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, severe liver and kidney insufficiency, and a weight loss/gain program in the last six months. 2. Use of the following drugs within 3 months before examination: antibiotics, probiotics or prebiotics, laxatives, PPI, hormones, incretin drugs, immunosuppressants, sex hormones, resistance hormones and Chinese herbal medicines. 3. Smoking (more than 1 cigarette per day for 6 consecutive or cumulative months), excessive alcohol consumption (40 or more grams of ethanol per day for men and 20 or more grams for women), and significant changes in diet during the week before sampling.
