Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Caregivers of a stroke family member who had the diagnosis of ischaemic or haemorrhagic stroke as documented in the medical record; 2. Caregivers of the care recipients who had been discharged home with post-stroke functional disability (Barthel ADL index<80/100) and relied on daily care and support for activity of daily living from the caregiver; 3. Currently providing caregiving in the role of primary family caregiver, defined as the person spending the most time in providing daily care for the stroke survivor or the person taking on the main caregiving tasks (Wang & Jiang 2007, Wang & Chen 2009); 4. Having a family relationship with the stroke care recipient including: the spouse, adult children, siblings, or relatives; 5. Is Mandarin-speaking and able to communicate and can be reached by telephone; 6. Is able to sign informed consent.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Caregivers will be excluded if they are paid for the stroke caregiving activities; 2. have a diagnosis of mental health problems or terminal illnesses; 3. had a history of substance abuse or known cognitive impairments; 4. Caregivers will also be excluded if the stroke care recipients are: 1). Suffering from severe functional or cognitive disabilities requiring institutionalized care; 2). Currently receiving day domiciliary care by professional or non-professional workers; 3). Attending day care center organized by community service organization.
