Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: A study: 1. The patient was hospitalized in the EICU of Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital and received invasive mechanical ventilation from January 2016 to December 2019; 2. The patient was mechanically ventilated using SIMV or PCV mode within 48 hours of the start of mechanical ventilation, and the ventilation mode was not changed. Research B: 1. The predisposing factors causing respiratory failure have been effectively controlled; 2. Consciousness and willingness to cooperate actively; 3. The ability to breathe spontaneously has recovered; 4. Good ventilation and oxygenation: PaO2/FiO2 > 250 mmHg, PEEP 7.35, PaCO2 reaches the level of remission; 5. Hemodynamically stable: no active myocardial ischemia, no vasopressor treatment or a small dose of vasopressor; 6. From January 2016 to December 2019, the patient was hospitalized in the EICU of Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital and received invasive mechanical ventilation, and the oral intubation was removed after his condition improved; 7. The patient was ventilated with PSV or T-tube within 2 hours before extubation, and the ventilation method was not changed.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. The patient's age is less than 18 years old; 2. Significant obesity, body mass index >= 28 kg/m2; 3. Thoracic deformity; 4. Pregnancy.
