18 Years to 80 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients with acute respiratory failure admitted to the ICU of Yijishan Hospital of Wannan Medical College from December 2021 to December 2023; 2. Respiratory rate >= 35 times/min; 3. Under the condition of venturi oxygen inhalation or nasal high-flow oxygen inhalation at a flow rate of 60 L/min, oxygenation index (PaO2/FiO2) 18 years.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Pregnancy; 2. Diaphragmatic paralysis; 3. Acute exacerbation of asthma or COPD; 4. Neuromuscular diseases; 5. Moderately obese BMI >= 35 kg/m^2; 6. Patients with weak expectoration or no airway protection ability; 7. Emergency intubation is required; 8. NIV intolerance (NIV intolerance is defined as a patient's refusal to NIV due to discomfort).
