Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Had shoulder MPS of at least 3 months; 2. Have not experienced professional sports training and have no fixed exercise habits; 3. The threshold value of the visual analog scale (VAS) for the MPS is set at 30 mm/100 mm according to previous studies; 4. Had at least 1 latent trigger point on any side of the upper trapezius. The diagnosis of MPS followed the standard: (1) Palpation of a taut band; (2) Identification of an exquisitely tender nodule (MTrP) in the taut band; (3) The local twitch response (LTR); (4) Reproduction of the patient's symptomatic pain with sustained pressure. If multiple MTrPs were detected in a participant, the MTrP with minimum pressure pain threshold would be selected.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. History of shoulder and neck fractures; 2. History of shoulder and neck surgery; 3. Take painkillers within 24 hours; 4. History of mental illness.
