Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. The maximum diameter >= 2.0cm; 2. Confirmation of benign nodule status by fine-needle aspiration or core-needle biopsy; 3. No suspicious malignant features on US examination; 4. There are compression or aesthetic symptoms, fear of nodules enlargement or malignant transformation; 5. Refusal or ineligibility for surgery; 6. Normal serum levels of thyroid hormone, thyrotropin, and calcitonin.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Nodules with benign result on FNA or CNB had suspicious of malignancy in US; 2. Previous radiation to the head and neck or history of thyroid surgery; 3. Patients with contra-lateral vocal cord paralysis; 4. Abnormal coagulation function, respiratory failure, myocardial infarction, systemic infection or diabetes are not controlled.
