Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with HCC were screened between January 2016 and December 2019 who underwent curative-purpose liver resection as initial therapy. All patients had resectable tumors, normal liver function, no extrahepatic metastasis, and were aged 18-80 years.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Preoperative AFP level >20 ng/ml; 2. Preoperative serum total bilirubin value>2.0 ml/dl; 3. Child-Pugh B or C liver function; 4. Non-r0 liver resection, including microscopically positive (R1) or microscopically positive (R2) margins; 5. Pathological diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma combined; 6. Incomplete clinical data for important medical information.
