Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Case patients - All adult patients (>18 years old), admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital or Yan Chai Hospital, that are identified to be colonized with candida auris through active screening or identified by contact investigation, or from clinical samples will be invited to participate. Control patients - Patients with same exposure risk as case patients, who has been tested to be Candida auris non-carriers through active screening or contact investigations. They will be matched with case patients by age, gender, and under the care of the same clinical departments with similar level of care with case patients
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. On antibiotic treatment for active infections; 2. Recent antibiotic treatment within 4 weeks of sample collection; 3. Currently on probiotic therapy or within 4 weeks of sample collection; 4. Currently on Proton pump inhibitor therapy or within 4 weeks of sample collection; 5. Active skin infection; 6. Unable to give written consent by patient, or next-of-kin, or legal guardian.
