Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: To be eligible, patients with hypopharyngeal carcinoma must have a predicted survival of > 3 months after surgical resections, age ranging from 18 to 65 year old, Karnofsky performance scores (KPS) >= 70, and simple intelligent mental state examination scale (MMSE) >= 27 scores.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients were excluded for the following reasons: the presence of distant metastasis; a confirmed diagnosis of sleep apnea; heart, lung, liver and kidney dysfunction; endocrine and metabolic diseases, such as hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and metabolic syndrome; illiteracy; impaired verbal communication; failing to complete the questionnaire due to various reasons; psychiatric disorders; pregnancy and lactation; experiencing or experienced other psychological nursing experiments.
