Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Formal diagnosis with type 2 diabetes for at least 12 months before the start of the trial. 2. No history of smoking and alcohol abuse. 3. A minimum age of 18 years.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Antibiotic exposure in the previous 3 months. 2. Consumption of any probiotic or prebiotic products during the 3 months prior to commencement of the study. 3. Other gastrointestinal diseases were diagnosed. 4. Severe mental-health problems prior to enrolment. 5. Severe organic diseases. 6. Infectious diseases. 7. Pregnant women.
