Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Inclusion criteria for healthy subjects: (1) Aged > 18 years; (2) Cooperate with magnetic resonance examination. 2. Inclusion criteria for ordinary diabetic patients: Diabetes diagnosis is mainly based on the 1999 WHO diabetes diagnostic criteria, that is, one of the following three criteria plus diabetes symptoms (such as typical ''three more and one less'' symptoms): (1) Random blood glucose >11.1 mmol/L; (2) Fasting blood glucose >7.0 mmol/L; (3) OGTT 2-hour blood glucose (glucose tolerance test) greater than 11.1 mmol/L. If the tested person has no obvious symptoms of diabetes, another day's re-examination is required to confirm the diagnosis. 3. Inclusion criteria for patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy: DPN patients were diagnosed based on positive NCS results and positive symptoms or signs of neuropathy. Patients with negative NCS results and negative signs and symptoms were considered DPN-free.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Exclusion criteria for healthy volunteers: (1) Pregnancy; (2) Suffering from systemic nervous system disease, post-traumatic changes, nerve entrapment syndrome, musculoskeletal disease or systemic metabolic disease that may lead to abnormal peripheral nerves; (3) History of local inflammation, trauma, scar, tumor or surgery in the contrast area; (4) Any history of lumbar spine surgery or disc herniation, any contraindications to MR imaging. 2. Exclusion criteria for ordinary diabetic patients: (1) T1DM; (2) Known history of polyneuropathy caused by other causes, such as heredity; alcohol, metabolism, inflammation, cervical and lumbar spondylosis, demyelination or poisoning; (3) Skin lesions or swellings that interfere with nerve conduction; (4) History of cerebral infarction and other central nervous system diseases; (5) Known history of leg or ankle fracture or surgery, any history of lumbar spine surgery or disc herniation, any contraindications to MR imaging. 3. Exclusion criteria for patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy: (1) Known history of polyneuropathy caused by other causes (such as genetic, alcohol, metabolic, inflammatory or toxic factors); (2) Any history of lumbar spine surgery or disc herniation, any contraindications to MR imaging; (3) Known history of leg or ankle fracture or surgery.
