Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Aged >= 65 years old, ASA status I-III, undergoing elective major noncardiac surgery under general anesthesia (gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary-pancreatic, thoracic, gynecologic, urologic, orthopedic).
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Sick sinus syndrome, severe bradycardia (heart rate < 50 beats/min), left ventricular ejection fraction < 30% or heart failure, second-degree or greater atrioventricular block without pacemaker, expected length of postoperative hospital stay < 72 hours, or refusal to participate.
