Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The criteria for the diagnosis of OHCA were generally based on American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines for OHCA and fulfillment of following items: 1. loss of consciousness; 2. loss of heart sound and pulse in the carotid and femoral artery; 3. sighing respiration; 4. pupil dilation and weakening, or disappearance of response to light. In addition, it was required that a close relative or legal guardian of the patient provide written informed consent to participate in the study. And ROSC was defined as restoration of spontaneous cardiac sinus or supraventricular rhythm with mean arterial pressure >=60 mm Hg for >=20 min.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Contraindication criteria for abdominal compression-depression were pregnancy, any thoracic or abdominal trauma/surgery appearing to be recent, known terminal or end-stage disease, or severe neurologic impairment.
