Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. great effort required in at least 25% of defecation attempts; (1) dry or hard stools accounting for at least 25% of bowel movements; (2) the sense of incomplete evacuation after defecation at least 25% of the time; (3) anorectal obstruction and blockage occurring in at least 25% of defecation attempts; (4) manual assistance (e.g., assistance with fingers or pelvic floor support) required for defecation at least 25% of the time; (5) infrequent defecation (fewer than 3 times per week); 2. Patient seldom had loose stools when laxatives were not used; 3. Patient did not meet the diagnostic criteria for irritable bowel syndrome; 4. During repeated attempts to defecate, the patient met at least 2 of the following 3 criteria: (1) diminished defecation confirmed by balloon expulsion test or imaging examination; (2) a diagnosis of absonant contraction of the pelvic floor muscles (e.g., the sphincter ani or puborectalis), or a resting pressure and relaxation rate of the sphincter of less than 20%, as determined by manometry, imaging examination, or electromyography; (3) a diagnosis of poor rectal propulsion during defecation by manometry or imaging examination.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. patients with constipation caused by organic diseases or drugs; 2. patients with systemic organic diseases in the heart, liver, kidneys, etc., or mental disorders; 3. patients with endocrine diseases and metabolic diseases, such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, etc.; 4. patients who were long-term users of medications, including sedatives, antidepressants, anticholinergic drugs, antipsychotic drugs, and calcium channel blocker agents; 5. patients with muscular diseases.
