Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Participants were included if they smoked at least 10 cigarettes per day for at least 5 years, had expired air carbon monoxide (CO) reading of =9 ppm, were 25 to 45 years old, and were motivated to stop smoking

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria included pregnancy or breastfeeding, use of stop-smoking medication in the past 30 days, ever use of EC for 7 days or more, history of severe psychiatric illness, unwillingness to use study products, and current diagnosis of cancer or in remission from cancer for less than 1 year.
