Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Cirrhotic patients with endoscopic presentation of esophageal varices; 2. Active esophageal variceal bleeding(EVB) or previous episodes of EVB; 3. Aged 18 to 80 years old.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Poor overall health status, including multiorgan failure, hepatic encephalopathy grade III and IV, and malignancies other than hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) meeting the Milan criteria, etc; 2. Previous history of EIS, EVL, TIPS treatment or liver transplantation; 3. Known allergy to the sclerosant used in the study (Lauromacrogol; Tianyu, Xian, China).
