Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Diagnostic criteria of schizophrenia in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (Fourth Edition); 2. Age 18-50 years old; 3. The dose of antipsychotics was stable in the last 3 months; 4. All patients showed refractory auditory hallucinations, defined as persistent daily hallucinations without remission for at least 3 months despite antipsychotic medication. All patients remained on medication throughout the study period.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. During pregnancy and lactation; 2. Prior MECT treatment within 6 months; 3. Substance dependence or other psychiatric comorbidities; 4. Organic brain diseases; 5. Serious physical diseases such as heart disease; 6. Pacemaker; 7. Comorbid epilepsy; 8. Hearing impairment.
