The extended home wound care group :Patients in the intervention group received home wound care practice under the guidance of the chronic disease home care model after discharge, and returned to the
Control group:Patients in the control group returned to the hospital for routine outpatient dressing changes 2-3 times a week after discharge, and received routine education guidance at the same time.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: In-hospital patients aged 18 and 90 with Wagner grade 1-3 diabetic foot ulcers were included. Furthermore, their HbA1c levels need to be less than 12.0% in the last three months. In addition, they need at least one caregiver who lives with them and can perform simple wound cleaning and dressing change procedure after training.They had to sign the written informed consent and were able and to follow the research procedures and participate in the planned visits.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Pregnant or lactating women; Patients with aspartate transferase and/or alanine transferase levels greater than five times the upper limit of normal value and serum creatinine level greater than four times the upper limit of normal value; Patients receiving immunosuppressive agents, chemotherapy drugs, radiotherapy or systemic corticosteroids in the last four weeks; Patients combined with a progressive malignant tumor, severe malnutrition or heart and lung diseases; Patients who were allergic to iodine or had abnormal thyroid function; Patients taking or using drugs that affect wound healing, such as dipeptidyl peptidase -4(DPP-4) inhibitor; Patients with mental and emotional instability, cognitive dysfunction, and current or long-term alcohol or drug abuse problems; Patients with severely infected ulcers, ulcers located in multiple planes or ischemic ulcers, active bleeding of foot ulcer or gangrene, suppuration and sinus which cannot be removed by debridement were not eligible.
