Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Over 35 years old (35 inclusive), male or female; 2. 7.0% < HbA1c < 9.0%; 3. Moderate to severe periodontitis (has more than 20 periodontal pockets, the depth of periodontal pocket is more than 4mm, and alveolar bone resorption is more than 30%); 4. Has at least 15 teeth in the mouth; 5. Agree to avoid pregnancy during the study; 6. No periodontal treatment within 6 months; 7. Under the treatment of the physician, there was no change in the medication for diabetes in the last 3 months, and agreed not to change the medication for diabetes when there was no clinical indication during the study period; 8. Voluntarily signed informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Uncontrolled systemic diseases other than diabetes (cardiovascular disease including hypertension, liver disease, lung disease, end-stage renal failure, or cancer); 2. Hepatitis B or HIV infection; 3. Using chronic therapeutic drugs that affect periodontal tissue (> 2 weeks) (phenytoin sodium or cyclosporine); 4. Chronic systemic antibiotic or immunosuppressive therapy; 5. Pregnancy or lactation.
