Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: We screened all adult patients with HLH that were admitted to the West China Hospital of Sichuan University between January 2009 and June 2019. Patients in this study were diagnosed with secondary HLH according to the HLH diagnostic criteria revised by the Histocyte Society in 2004.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with HLH were excluded from the study if they had a functioning kidney transplant, received renal replacement therapy (RRT) in the past month, or were diagnosed with a renal malignant tumor or stage 4 or 5 chronic kidney disease (CKD).
