Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged 28 days to 18 years old; 2. hospitalized patients suspected severe infection in pediatric intensive care unit.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Non-infectious causes of fever, such as connective tissue disease and central hyperthermia; patients with contraindications for fiberoptic bronchoscopy; 2. patients who died within 24 hours of PICU or gave up treatment when the diagnosis was not yet clear.
