Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Tissue samples were obtained from the metabolic disease biospecimen bank of the Fourth Hospital of China Medical University, and the ethical approval was done by the Ethics Committee of the Fourth Hospital of China Medical University, approval number:EC-2020-KS-004, and the sample providers were informed and signed the informed consent form. Patients undergoing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG), laparoscopic gastric bypass (LRYGB), and laparoscopic gastric sleeve resection + jejunostomy (LSG+JJB) were selected (20 diabetic patients and 20 non-diabetic patients of both sexes in proportion to the sample pool), liver tissue, large omental adipose tissue, subcutaneous adipose tissue, and blood samples were collected.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (i) chronic or acute inflammatory disease (based on medical history, blood leukocyte count and/or CRP); (ii) viral hepatitis; (iii) human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and immune system disorders; (iv) antibiotic therapy or oral probiotics within 3 months; (v) history of gastrointestinal surgery; (vi) gastrointestinal bleeding, inflammatory bowel disease; and (vii) malignancy.
