SI Group:Sustained inflation (sustained manual inflation to a peak airway pressure of 30 cm H2O for 30 seconds)
IP Group:A stepwise increase in positive end-expiratory pressure to a peak airway pressure of 30 cm H2O for 30 seconds

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I-III; 2. Aged >40 years old; 3. Suffering from Carotid stenosis and will be given an elective surgery; 4. Patients join in the research for voluntary.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status over ?; 2. Patients with severe hypertension (180/110mmhg), severe valvular disease and severe arrhythmia, Myocardial infarction occurred within three months; 3. Patients with severe COPD and asthma, pulmonary blisters, spontaneous pneumothorax, and the history of lobectomy; 4. Patients with severe heart and lung disease cannot tolerate this operation; 5. Patients refused or quitted the research; 6. Patients currently participating in other interventional studies.
