Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) More than 18 years old. (2) diagnosed with HNC. For the lesion not confirmed by preoperative biopsy, intraoperative frozen section will confirm the diagnosis. (3) indicated to surgical treatment.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) with recurrent lesions. (2) with Alzheimers disease or other mental disorder. (3) with bronchial asthma or bronchitis. (4) with olfactory dysfunction. (5) with chemoradiotherapy history. (6) pregnant or lactating woman. (7) contradicted to surgery or rejecting surgical treatment. (8) allergic to essential oils. (9) strongly hating lavender. (10) elongated hospitalization due to postoperative complications (infection, fistula, hemorrhage, dyspnea, etc).
