Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients newly admitted to the ICU and fed through gastric tubes were eligible for inclusion; 1. An estimated total feeding time of more than 7 days; 2. APACHE II scores <= 24; 3. Aged 20-60 years; 4. RASS -2-0 scores; 5. Voluntary participation in the study and informed consent signed by the patient or legal representative.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with the ability to eat orally at admission; 2. Patients with diabetes; 3. Patients with gastrointestinal disease (gastrointestinal surgery, gastrointestinal bleeding, pancreatitis, crohn disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome); 4. Patients who are unable to tolerate >= 80% of the nutrition target calories (25-30 kcal/kg/d) with enteral feeding; 5. Paients with coma or sleep disorders or mental disturbance.
