Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: The patients were 18-60 years of age, underwent maintenance hemodialysis for at least 6 months and had mean albumin <3.5 g/dL for over 3 months and had kidney failure, which was confirmed using the values of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) less than 15 mL/min/1.73 m2.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Hepatic insufficiency was confirmed by using plasma levels of Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT), which were over 2 times of the upper limit of normal range; drug and alcohol abuse were found. Acute infection was detected. The women were excluded during pregnancy and lactation. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and life-threatening complications were caused by dialysis. Kidney transplantation was performed within 3 months, and the expected survival time would be <= 1 year.
