30 Years to 70 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients older than 30 years with shoulder pain and restriction in ROM (>75% ROM loss in two directions,ie,abduction, flexion, external rotation, and internal rotation) for a duration of at least 3 months and in whom no treatment other than analgesics was prescribed within the past 3 months. In all patients, shoulder X-radiographs and shoulder magnetic resonance imaging were obtained within two weeks before or at the beginning of enrollment in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) If they had surgical intervention on the affected shoulder or history of cortisone injection in the affected shoulder in the previous 8 weeks; 2) If there was extensive scar around the shoulder, rotator cuff calcification, joint infection, lack of stability, rheumatoid arthritis or full thickness tear of shoulder rotator cuff; 3) Cervical radiculopathy or damage to the spinal cord; 4) If they had other contraindications to shock wave treatment, including artifificial pacemaker, use of anti-blood clotting medications, known bleeding disorder, known malignancy in the area intended for treatment.
