Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children aged < 12 years, undergoing a surgical procedure requiring general anesthesia and controlled ventilation with an ASA physical status class of I-III will be consented for the entry into the study. Informed consent from patients' caregiver will be obtained before inclusion.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria are known congenital heart disease, rhythm other than sinus, carotid artery stenosis, kidney disease. Patients require receiving vasoactive agents will also be excluded from the study.
