50 Years to 80 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1). Those aged >= 50 years; 2). Those with OA in at least one knee according to the American College of Rheumatology Classification Criteria 14; 3). Those having knee pain on most days of the past month; 4). Those having had knee pain for at least 3 months; 5). Those reporting a minimum average overall knee pain intensity of 40 on a 100mm Visual Analog Score (VAS) for most days in the past month 15 6). Those having smartphones with the WeChat app and are willing to receive text message reminders in WeChat from physiotherapists during the trial.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Those aged >= 80 years; 2) Those with knee joint injection in the past 6 months or planned surgery in the next 12 months; 3) Those who have taken oral corticosteroids in the past 1 month or intraarticular corticosteroid injection in the past 3 months; 4) Those with systemic arthritic conditions; 5) Those with past knee fracture or malignancy; 6) Those with past hip or knee joint replacement, tibial osteotomy, or other surgeries of hip or knee joint; 7) Those with any other neurological, muscular or joint diseases that may currently affect the physical function of lower limb; 8) Those who have participated in hip or knee muscle strengthening program in the past 3 months.
