18 Years to 80 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients were recruited for the study if they: (a)were adult patients between the ages of 18 and 80;(b) were intubated within 24h of ICU admission; and (c) expected duration of ventilation of at least 48 h.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Reasons for exclusion included:(a) patients with contraindications to the semi recumbent position (for example, patients with acute cardiovascular instability or those with traumatic brain injury); (e)patients with one of the following diseases: pressure ulcers, diabetes, cellular tissue inflammation, osteomyelitis, peripheral vascular disease, sepsis, cancer cachexia, and any organ failure.
