Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: A. Depressive symptoms group Inclusive criteria: 1. female aged 60 years or above; 2. long-term residence in the region for more than 20 years; 3. screening by geriatric depression scale (GDS) with a score of 11-25 (mild to moderate depression); 4. communication barrier free or communication barrier free after visual and auditory correction; 5. right handedness assessed by Chinese handedness rating scale; 6. informed consent and voluntary participation in this study. B. Health control group 1. The score of GDS was less than or equal to 10; 2. The other inclusion, exclusion, exclusion and shedding criteria were the same as those of depressive symptoms group; 3. Age, gender and education level are matched with the depressive symptoms group.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.T1-weighted MRI showing lacunarinfarction > 15 mm, as determined by two radiologists with more than 5 years experience each; 2.severe somatic disease that made an individual reluctant to participate; 3.disease related to changes in brain tissue such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, or metastatic tumors;unstable somatic diseases such as severe asthma, epilepsy,brain tumors, and other neurodegenerative diseases; or somatic diseases that might lead to mood disorders such as multiple sclerosis, thyroid disease, and chronic pain; 4.cognitive impairment as indicated in screening with the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE); 5.previous or current psychiatric disorder; 6.current antidepressant treatment; 7.a recent history (less than 2 months) of use of psychotropic drugs or alcoholism; 8.incompatibility with MRI due to claustrophobic tension or metal implants; and 9.participation in other research during the study period.
