Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: This study was conducted in two parts: the first part was a case-control study, and the second part was a follow-up of the case group. Part I: Case control study Case group: sepsis was diagnosed (2016 diagnostic criteria); admission age 28 days to 12 years; Consent of the child's guardian; Control group: perioperative children without signs of infection; admission age 28 days to 12 years; The child's guardian agrees. Part II: The first part of the case group (children with sepsis) were followed up. Inclusion criteria: diagnosis of sepsis (2016 diagnostic criteria); admission age 28 days to 12 years; The child's guardian agrees.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The exclusion criteria were the same for both groups: 1) children with long-term chemotherapy; 2) Children with long-term immunosuppressive therapy; 3) Children with suspected or confirmed immunodeficiency; 4) A history of unexplained fever (continuous fever >=21 days) before admission.
