Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: The inclusion of periodontitis 1) age between 18 to 60 years old; 2) systemic healthy and presented at least 20 functional teeth in the mouth; 3) at least 8 teeth with probing depth (PD) > 5mm and clinical attachment loss (AL) > 3mm, with radiographic evidence of alveolar bone loss, and at least 3 of them were not incisors or first molars; 4) no periodontal treatment in the previous 6 months; 5) no antibiotics in the precious 3 months. The inclusions of Patients with periodontitis and atherosclerosis are the similar to the above criteria except that the patient had both periodontitis and atherosclerosis.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1) Pregnancy or lactation; 3) other systemic diseases; 4) dysfunction of blood coagulation; 5) smoker; 6) denied to join the study or sign the consent form.
