Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All the experiment protocol for involving humans was in accordance to guidelines of the Declaration of Helsinki. Admission conditions: according to the 2001 consensus meeting criteria, the patient was diagnosed as severe sepsis or septic shock, aged 48-82 years. No CPR, no surgery, no pregnancy, no chronic kidney disease.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The exclusion criteria included: parenteral nutrition within 48 hours after admission; diabetes and other metabolic related diseases; chronic liver disease; AIDS; decreased polymorphonuclear granulocyte count; For the healthy control group, participants with acute or chronic diseases were excluded. And healthy volunteers have not been hospitalized or taken any drugs in the past 12 months, and physical examination and laboratory examination show normal population.
