18 Years to 30 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged 18-30 years; 2. No previous orthodontic treatment; 3. Adequate nutrition, with no sign of systemic illness; 4. Permanent dentition; 5. Have a clinical indication for extracting both upper first premolars and distalizing the bilateral maxillary canines to correct a mild protrusion of the maxilla; 6. Good oral hygiene, no gingival recession, no radiological evidence of periodontal bone loss, a probing depth < 3 mm, and a gingival index < 1.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Pregnancy, or lactation; 2. Long-term medical treatment that could interfere with bone metabolism, such as analgesics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicine, antibiotics, and hormone supplements; 3. Oral Mucosal Lesions, such as oral ulcer and lichen planus.
