Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: PD group: Patients has been diagnosed PD independently by two neurologists with the title of attending physician or above with the International Society of Movement Disorders (MDS) PD clinical diagnostic criteria and the clinical diagnostic criteria of PD in China. Patients are between 50 and 80 years old with written informed consent obtained. MSA group: Patients has been diagnosed MSA independently by two neurologists with the title of attending physician or above with the 2017 Expert consensus on diagnosis criteria for multiple system atrophy in China. Patients are between 50 and 80 years old with written informed consent obtained. DM group: Patients age, sex and education level have been matched with PD and MSA group. DM patients enrolled in the group should meet the diagnostic criteria of diabetes (2017 Chinese Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes). Patients are between 50 and 80 years old with written informed consent obtained. HC group: Age, sex and education level have been matched with PD and MSA group and no history of mental illness or any neurological disorders have been recognized in HC. Written informed consent has been obtained.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: PD Group: Excluding patients: 1) Parkinsonism or Parkinsonism-Plus syndrome caused by drugs (such as metoclopramide, flunarizine, antipsychotics) or metabolic disorders (such as Wilson's disease), encephalitis or degenerative diseases (such as Progressive Supranuclear Paralysis), 2) complicated with hypertension or diabetes, 3) complicated with a history of cardiovascular diseases such as ischemic heart disease, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia, 4) epilepsy, stroke, thyroid dysfunction, chronic nephropathy, severe anxiety and depression and other diseases that may affect autonomic nervous function, 5) are taking drugs that may affect autonomic nervous function, 6) contraindicated to cardiovascular reflex test such as a history of proliferative retinopathy, 7) concomitant with bronchial stenosis or spasm, asthma and other allergic respiratory diseases, severe renal damage and allergy to ultrasonic enhancing agents/MRI gadolinium contrast agents. MSA Group: Excluding patients: 1) complicated with hypertension or diabetes, 2) complicated with a history of cardiovascular diseases such as ischemic heart disease, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia, 3) epilepsy, stroke, thyroid dysfunction, chronic nephropathy, severe anxiety and depression and other diseases that may affect autonomic nervous function, 4) are taking drugs that may affect autonomic nervous function, 5) contraindicated to cardiovascular reflex test such as a history of proliferative retinopathy, 6) concomitant with bronchial stenosis or spasm, asthma and other allergic respiratory diseases, severe renal damage and allergy to ultrasonic enhancing agents/MRI gadolinium contrast agents. DM Group: Excluding patients: 1) with acute or severe chronic complications of diabetes such as diabetic ketoacidosis, hyperosmotic coma, lactic acidosis, 2) complicated with hypertension, 3) complicated with a history of cardiovascular diseases such as ischemic heart disease, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia, 4) epilepsy, stroke, thyroid dysfunction, chronic nephropathy, severe anxiety and depression and other diseases that may affect autonomic nervous function, 5) are taking drugs that may affect autonomic nervous function including neuroleptics, metoclopramide, a-methyldopa, methylphenidate, reserpine and amphetamine derivatives, 6) contraindicated to cardiovascular reflex test such as a history of proliferative retinopathy, 7) concomitant with bronchial stenosis or spasm, asthma and other allergic respiratory diseases, severe renal damage and allergy to ultrasonic enhancing agents/MRI gadolinium contrast agents. HC Group: 1) complicated with hypertension, 2) complicated with a history of cardiovascular diseases such as ischemic heart disease, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia, 3) epilepsy, stroke, thyroid dysfunction, chronic nephropathy, severe anxiety and depression and other diseases that may affect autonomic nervous function, 4) are taking drugs that may affect autonomic nervous function including neuroleptics, metoclopramide, a-methyldopa, methylphenidate, reserpine and amphetamine derivatives, 5) contraindicated to cardiovascular reflex test such as a history of proliferative retinopathy, 6) concomitant with bronchial stenosis or spasm, asthma and other allergic respiratory diseases, severe renal damage and allergy to ultrasonic enhancing agents/MRI gadolinium contrast agents.
